Rancangan Mulia

Last year, shortly after I released my second single “Hanyut”, there were a few of my old friends reached out to me, each wanted to do a project with me. These projects were for secular songs and I thought, “Wow. God is opening up doors for me and expanding my reach to a new audience.”

A couple of weeks gone by and what first felt exciting suddenly just doesn’t sit right in my heart. I began to question whether these were meant for me. I prayed and tuned myself to what the Holy Spirit was telling me. I called up a friend whom I trust because I needed a confirmation. She giggled and said, “I think you already know the answer.“ She was right.

Doing church music was never my dream. It wasn’t something that I wanted to do. I struggled and wrestled with God’s calling for years before I surrendered and said “OK, Lord. I’ll do it.” So, imagine my excitement when a secular music project came to me. For a second, I lost focus. God did not say ‘No’, the choice was mine whether I keep going or not. Even if I kept going with it, I’m sure He would not condemn me for it. He would still love me and lead me back to what He’s called me to do. I decided to withdraw from those projects for personal reasons and I got His peace in my heart.

A month later, Temple of Christ reached out to me, asked me to sing on their song “Rancangan Mulia” and without listening to the demo, I said yes immediately. God answered my prayers yet again. I heard the demo and read the lyrics where it says, “Di rencana awal yang Kau maksud”. It stood out to me and gave me asurance that this was the project that He wanted me to do.

I am grateful for this process. I am grateful that I was able to connect with a group of people that loves God so much. Once again, I am asured that each of us have different callings in this industry and mine is this. Thank You, Lord, for always being so patient with me.
